Well, it felt like spring this week.
I suppose it was bound to happen eventually.
Sorry folks, but that's all the enthusiasm you're going to get out of a fall/winter kind of girl.
Today's miserably gray and rainy weather aside, this week was the initial slap of warm weather, and while I'm not a fan, it does give me the chance to switch up my nail color. Spring nail colors are some of the most hideously unflattering on me--all those pale pastel shades don't exactly work well with my warm yellow-toned skin--but I decided to give this intimidating shade a whirl.
Peaches and Cream is sort of a pale nectarine mixed with a pastel peach yogurt not uncommon in the nail polish world, but I ignored it for so long because I never thought I could pull it off. I'm glad I finally did, though, because even though it's not most-suited to my skin tone, this polish has the major plus of making me look more tan (just my hands, actually, but I pretend it extends to my legs). The contrast between the paleness of the polish and the warmth of my skin is a bit sharp, though, so if you have similar coloring, this is the kind of polish you have to acknowledge as an accessory.
In terms of formula, this was a bit of a miss for CoverGirl, as Peaches and Cream went on streaky (though it managed to smooth itself out) and required three coats for full opacity. This polish felt thicker than their standard formula, and you can kind of see in the picture how all the layering of coats creates a built-up and heavy look around the edges of my nails. That's something I'm especially sensitive to, as the unevenness really brings down the overall look of your manicure and makes it look sloppy.
No updates today, but I'd like to start including links to articles or posts I've enjoyed throughout the week in every NOTW post.
Until then, here's a shot of food porn to start off your weekend right. Cold, wet and gray weather demands heaping portions of comfort food (screw you, juice cleanses), and a delicious bowl of ramen perked me right up.
*Right up until I fell asleep 15 minutes later.
Have a good weekend!
