NOTW: Sally Hansen Pedal to the Metal

Friday, November 4, 2011

I know I promised to do a comparison on the old versus new Shu Uemura Mascara Basic next, but I'm going to need a bit more time to really play and experiment with the new one for a solid review. So instead I've got another Nail of the Week post along with some shots of food porn!

This color is probably more suited for the icy cold dead of winter, but I just felt like changing it up a bit and out came this gorgeous, creamy blue-tinged gunmetal gray! I've only ever used one other Sally Hansen polish before (NOTW here) and this is one from the complete salon manicure line. I'm definitely not familiar enough with the brand to comfortably talk about the differences between her nail polish varieties, but this one seemed to go on a bit thicker and has held up against chips well. The brush, however, is unusually flat and thick and weirdly enough with this thicker consistency, leaves very obvious brush strokes. The formula is well-pigmented but its streakiness does make it harder to get an even layer.

For some reason, this kind of color really makes me want to jazz it up with some glitter, nail art or decals. A purple or silver glitter topcoat on the tips would be so gorgeous with this shade!

It's been a long week and I'm off to meet my cousins for dinner and then a late showing of A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas in 3D! (I know--I have such highbrow taste in film!)

It's Friday so I'll leave you with some drool-worthy shots of my lunch earlier today! If you live in New York and haven't yet been to Num Pang (Cambodian sandwiches), you are seriously missing out! Always get the grilled corn if it's in season and the skirt steak is my all-time favorite.

Hope everyone had a wonderful week and enjoys their weekend!
