Haul: Sephora, MAC, The Body Shop, Duane Reade

Friday, August 26, 2011

I've been doing a bit of shopping lately, so I figured it was time I shared my goodies with all of you.

After classes today, I popped into Bloomingdales to pick up MAC's limited edition blush in Stunner. I'm not a junkie of MAC's various collections, but I did take a look at all their new products online and got excited over the new blushes. I don't know who wrote up Stunner's description as a "light coral pink" but in real life it's a cool-toned, slightly mauvey pink which actually suits me better. I swirled some on the moment I got home, and it's perfect--really flattering, brightening but not in-your-face, and the type of pink that would suit a lot of skin tones. I'll talk more about Stunner in a different post, but if I could only wear one blush for the rest of my life, this would be it.

I had some store credit to The Body Shop to use up, and I'm almost out of my Neutrogena Purifying Scrub, so I got the Vitamin C Microdermabrasion exfoliant and their Pink Grapefruit Puree Body Lotion. (I'm not cheating on my precious St. Ives Naturally Indulgent, though! The puree is like the Vaseline Body Gel--really light and perfect for using on my arms.

Slightly boring but I thought I'd mention it anyway--my beloved Shu Uemura Mascara Basic is going to dry out soon, so I ordered a new one online. To Shu, with love: bring your products back to North America!

A massive Duane Reade opened by me and in addition to picking up the Physician's Formula Healthy Wear Powder Foundation for a mere $5 (it was in a clearance section or something) I also got a Revlon nail polish (my first!) in Copper Penny and their PhotoReady Concealer in light/medium.

I mentioned the Tarte Emphaseyes Inner Rim Brightener in a Beauty Cravings post a while back and finally purchased it, as my Benefit Eye Bright is getting stumpy. One of the Sephora by OPI nail polishes caught my eye and even though I find them streaky and prone to chipping, I did a quick test of I Don't Bite on my thumbnail and was pleasantly surprised. It goes on gorgeously and is super pigmented--plus, it's pretty similar to Butter London's No More Waity, Katie!

Okay everyone, I've saved the best for last. I had some store credit to Sephora as well (apparently receipts that get caught in the rain aren't acceptable for refunds) so I decided to get a new perfume. You all know how picky I am when it comes to fragrance, so I was sniffing every gorgeous bottle on the Sephora shelves for quite some time before I came across Vera Wang's Lovestruck. Apparently it has just launched and has already received quite a bit of attention. I actually snagged the last 1 ounce bottle of it and then spent the rest of my shopping excursion privately gloating =). I'll do a whole Fragrance Files post on Lovestruck really soon, but for now just know that it's not terribly unique and almost smells like men's cologne, but I'm totally in love with it.

And just look at this packaging!! Beautiful!!!

I love everything I've purchased recently, but I'm embarrassingly excited about this perfume! Seriously, my nose has practically been glued to my wrist all day!

You'll see the full breakdown of Lovestruck in the next post, but if there's anything I bought that you want me to review or discuss further, just ask!

Hope you're all well!

Have a great weekend!
