Cheapie but Goodie: Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette

Scratch that.

Let's make it "Cheapie but Amazing", shall we?

I had heard a bit of talk about this little concealer palette from a few of my favorite beauty people on YouTube but didn't really think about it until I was in Target a few weeks ago. I was looking for a darker concealer to mix with the way-too-light-for-me Vichy Dermablend (review coming!). It was only $9.99, and Sonia Kashuk has never done me wrong before, so I picked it up.

It just might be the best $10 I've ever spent.

As you can see in the picture, the palette is divided into four--three concealers, and a powder (bottom right). The top two are yellow-toned concealers, with the one on the right clearly being darker than the left, and the one next to the powder is actually a green-toned corrector.

It's genius--I can't believe I've never seen anything like this before!

The greenish neutralizer cancels out redness around my nose, and can even take the red out of my cystic acne, and the yellowish ones on top can cover just about anything on my face from discoloration to pimples. A touch of the powder on the concealed areas, and you're done!

The idea is just stellar--perfect for tossing into your vacation bag so you'll always have the right shade of concealer, even if you're between colors. But the product itself is outstanding just in terms of the smoothness and coverage it gives. When I first tried the palette out, I didn't think I would like how creamy and rich-feeling the concealers are. That sort of consistency just doesn't last on my oily skin for long hours of wear. I don't know if my skin has changed or if it's something about the formula, but the concealers in this palette are so lush that they just melt right in. Normally I like a stiffer, more waxy cover-up for my acne, but I actually think the creaminess of the Sonia Kashuk concealers cover my pimples better--they really get into every crevice and crater of the uneven area.

I know some people use this under their eyes, but I don't because it makes my bags look crepey and heavy--it does more harm than good. It's a bit of a shame, though, because I don't use the powder as that little pan is certainly not big enough to fit a fluffy face brush in!

Unfortunately, my biggest criticism of this product is the severe lack of color options. I did a quick swatch on what might be the most awkward part of my arm to photograph...

Yes, you get shade variety within the set, but that's it! There's no palette for lighter or darker skin--if you fall too far from these colors, this just won't work for you. It always aggravates me when companies pull stunts like this--I think it goes back to being the 8-year-old girl whose name was too unusual to be on license plates.

(On a side note, I want to applaud Bare Minerals for having a really fantastic color selection for their famous powder foundation).

I've already made a huge dent in the top right concealer, so I went ahead and got another palette online--I can't see myself not using this quad anytime in the near future. In fact, I might even have to do an updated Everyday Makeup Products post....

Fun stuff coming up soon!

I'm heading out to celebrate the end of my summer classes--no more finals!!

Hope everyone is well!
