NOTW: Sinful Colors Rise and Shine

Sunday, July 10, 2011

I don't own very many Sinful Colors polishes, which is a little odd considering how good they are in terms of quality and price! You can find this brand at pretty much any drugstore (usually a few shelves beneath OPI or Essie) accompanied by a lovely $1.99 price tag. Believe me, it's a welcome change to only have to shell out a couple bucks for a new nail polish!

Rise and Shine looks very teal in the bottle but on my nails it comes across pretty green. Under most lighting it looks more like a perfect St. Patrick's Day green with just a hint of blue mixed in. In this picture, the color is actually a bit lighter than what it looks like it real life. Not exactly your typical bright summery shade, but I felt like painting my nails a slightly more unusual color.

What's kind of weird about this polish, though, is that it dries to an almost matte finish. It's not completely matte and flat looking, but it's pretty close. I like a little sheen to my nails, so that problem was quickly remedied with a good top coat. This color also has a small amount of shimmer in the formula that's honestly very hard to see. You have to hold your nails under some sort of light and look really closely in order to see it. I honestly don't care whether that small amount of shimmer is visible or not, but I just thought it was strange that a polish with tiny bits of glitter would dry matte.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this formula dries exceptionally quickly though--a rather lengthy drying time is my one complaint with OPI polishes.

Frankly, between the amazing price and pigmentation (2 coats!) you'll probably be seeing a lot more Sinful Colors in my NOTW posts.

If anyone has any good nail polish collection storage ideas, I'd love to hear from you! Mine are all in a drawer right now which is neater than having them all out on my dresser, but still not quite ideal.

I've also got a few more Cheapie but Goodie posts coming up, so be on the look out for those!

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!
