Cheapie but Goodie: Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Treatment

Monday, July 4, 2011

As someone obsessed with haircare, I firmly believe that every person, no matter what kind of hair they have, should own a deeply moisturizing treatment. They're extremely good for your locks, and even if your mane is in perfect condition (jealous!), it certainly won't do any harm. Personally, I like to have a few inexpensive masks around for frequent use, and a pricier one for the occasional indulgence when I've been frying my hair with a straightener or something.

I've been to a few hairstylists who will try and push me towards buying really expensive treatments from Kerastase and the like, claiming that cheaper products won't be of any good to my hair.

And that's just ridiculous, as this particular product goes to show.

Organix is a brand known for its paraben and sulfate free hair and skincare products widely available at drugstores. I tend to refer to them as the brand with cute packaging that makes haircare sound and smell delicious. (Passionfruit guava is my favorite scent they do!) I don't know that their shampoo and conditioner is anything extraordinary, but they smell great and the packaging description always makes for fun reading in the shower!

The brand jumped on the moroccan oil bandwagon a while ago, and as I was interested to explore a cheaper option of the magic elixir, I picked up the penetrating oil and renewing treatment. Now, the oil is utter crap. It's heavy and thick (not in a good way, and not at all like the original oil) and when it does eventually absorb into my hair, it doesn't appear to do a darn thing. But that's okay, because my love for the deep treatment totally eclipses my disappointment with the oil!

This eight ounce tub of wonder is everything a proper hydrating hair mask should be--rich, incredibly moisturizing, and ridiculously softening and shine-enhancing. I actually had a stranger compliment me on my hair the day after I used this particular treatment--and let me tell you, I rarely get compliments and even more rarely are they on my hair!

This treatment left my hair soft to the point where I couldn't stop touching it and was even hydrating enough for my bottom-most layer of hair. For some reason, that section is always extremely dry and frizzy, but one application of this had it looking and feeling infinitely better! Best of all, this particular hair mask didn't actually weigh my hair down like so many others I've tried. I can't tell you how many times I've experimented with a thick hair treatment only to rinse it out and discover the waves in my hair weighed down to a shapeless mess. (Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, I'm looking at you!)

Bottom line, this stuff is amazing and works wonders for your hair. The only quibble I can think of is that not everyone will love that musky, heady, moroccan oil scent. But if you've tried original moroccan oil products, you'll notice that this organix treatment has a much milder, softer smell in comparison.

Hope I've inspired you all to give this product a whirl! Have a lovely week, and Happy 4th of July to all who celebrate it!
