Sacre-Coeur, Desserts, Parisian Randomness--A Day in Pictures!

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

So because my cousin Vicky woke up this morning feeling worse--we took the blistering pustules on the back of her throat to be a bad sign--today was kind of a slow one. Which was actually kind of nice, and called for, as we've been pretty busy taking in the sights these past few days.

My brother's apartment is right around the corner from a famous basilica--the Sacre-Coeur (sacred heart) so we decided to go see it this afternoon, and walk around the area...

The beautiful church is located on top of a hill, providing us with a gorgeous view of Paris...

We walked a little further down the hill, discovering an antique sort of carousel I was very tempted to ride...

After taking lots of pictures, we headed back to the apartment, taking a rather picturesque and scenic route back...

Decided to stop at our favorite bakery for some mouth-watering eclairs...

And then spotted a ridiculous parking job on our way back to the apartment...

Later we had a nice meal in after picking up take out from a nearby restaurant, but went out to a cafe for a late night dessert--creme brulee of course! This particular treat has been a favorite of mine since I was little. I actually made up songs and poems about creme brulee following my first burnt sugar, cream-filled bite--true story!

And now we're all cozying up in bed with the windows open, listening to it rain in Paris--the perfect ending to our day. Tomorrow's our last full day here, as our train back to Zurich leaves early Thursday afternoon, and I'm kind of sorry to be leaving.

But before we even get on that train, there's going to be a lot more food to eat--duck confit and souffle are noticeably missing from any previous "Day in Pictures", something that must be rectified! There'll also be a few last minute things to pick up from various drugstores for that upcoming beauty haul post =)

Good night, everyone! And, as always, thanks for reading! I really do appreciate it!
