Oerlikon, Paradeplatz, and Sushi--A Day in Pictures!

Monday, June 6, 2011

So today my grandmother's friend invited us all to her sushi restaurant in Oerlikon, close to the heart of Zurich. Apparently sushi is fairly hard to come by here--the Manhattan in me was dumbstruck--so we were all pretty excited to eat some fresh fish and spend the day perusing the inner city.

So we hopped onto the tram, can you believe it?

Devoured our yummy sushi, so kindly provided by family friends...

And then went off to explore Paradeplatz (Parade Plaza) in the middle of Zurich...

Where we saw lots of fun things, both old...

And new!...

But then, because this was pretty much the number one reason I was excited to go to Zurich, we HAD to stop in Sprungli--the confiserie (sweets/dessert place). I would fly 9 hours in coach with screaming babies just for a single one of their Luxemburgerli (Sprungli version of a macaroon)...

Specifically, I would do all that for my favorite flavor, the fleur de sel. Buttery, caramelly, and absolutely heavenly. These bad boys melt in your mouth like you would not believe!...

It was getting late, so we headed to the main train station to go home...

But not without stopping for some of the most delicious and photogenic produce I have ever seen...

They made a lovely contribution to our dinner!

All around, a great day was had by all. And best of all, tomorrow we'll be going back into the city for something else I've been dying for--Movenpick!

And if you're wondering what that is, you'll just have to wait and see!

I hope you're all enjoying these posts as much as I enjoy writing them!

Have a lovely week, and don't forget to check back here soon!
