NOTW: Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order

Monday, June 20, 2011

I really should have titled this post, "Leili Doesn't Learn From Her Mistakes."

I know I don't like Sephora by OPI nail polishes.

I know they streak something terrible, and that the formula isn't smooth.

I know that almost every time I use a Sephora by OPI nail polish, I end up looking like I painted my nails in the dark.

And even though I know all of that, I still bought their polish in Mermaid to Order!

But before you berate me for being such an idiot, just know that it couldn't be helped! I'm a nail polish hoarder and everyone kept saying what a pretty color this was! It was peer pressure! The name is cute! I had to do it!

So even though I knew better, I picked it up, and hoped that maybe this specific bottle of nail polish would be decent.

And I, of course, was wrong.

Because not only does this nail polish suck in general--it took me more than 3 coats to reach opacity, resulting in a terribly bumpy finish, it's not super flattering on my skin tone.

I'm told it makes people look really tan (jealous!), but I just don't love it on me.

My cousin says it's not all that bad, but between the terrible formulation and how the color looks against my skin, I can't see myself wearing this very often.

This is a pretty popular shade, so if you've tried it and loved/hated it, let me know!
