Movenpick and More Fun Food Adventures--A Day in Pictures!

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Today (Wednesday) is going to be pretty relaxed, as will the days following it until we leave for Paris this weekend. I was going to do this post last night, as this is technically yesterday in pictures but we got home so late that I just didn't have the time. I'm actually pretty annoyed with myself for breaking this blogging-every-day streak, but I'll get it together again! Expect more beauty-related posts in the upcoming days!

Yesterday began with an early lunch at Movenpick--a restaurant and ice cream brand. The ice cream is readily available at most grocery stores in Switzerland, but the restaurant is famous for their tah tah steak--steak tartare. Normally, I'd stay far away from raw meat, but the Swiss are extremely picky about where their protein comes from, and I have complete faith in the estimable restaurant. The delicious food arrives in lovely presentation...

It might look and sound gross, but I promise you, it's delicious! And of course, since we were at Movenpick, we had to follow up lunch with ice cream for dessert. And by the way, amazing Swiss milk and dairy products makes for even more amazing Swiss ice cream...

Feeling full from our meal, we walked around the city where we discovered a big department store...

Some amusing board games...

And the most adorable street!...

Then we went up to a cafe and enjoyed the view from the outdoor terrace...

Where I enjoyed some heavenly chocolate milk. Can anyone guess why I picked this particular brand...?

Met up with some family friends for a ridiculously delicious dinner--fresh, homemade pasta!

And capped the night off with a McDonald's McFlurry. I know it sounds stupid, but going to McDonald's in other countries is actually kind of cool because they incorporate favorite foods and dishes of that nation. The golden arch establishments of Taiwan and Japan, for instance, have really good ramen. The Swiss ones use Magnum chocolate in their McFlurries, and it was to die for--my cousin actually wound up licking the cup. Rich in cocoa, but not overly sweet, it was perfection...

Given the food I've been eating here, I really hope my next "Day in Pictures" consists of dumbbells, an elliptical machine, and a yoga mat.

But who am I kidding? I think we all know the next one will be more shots of ridiculously starchy, mouth-watering food and tons of sweets.

And I wouldn't have it any other way!
