The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the Champs-Elysees--A Day in Pictures!

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Our first full day in Paris wasn't too exciting--it's Sunday which means that aside from everything super touristy (which was what we did), this place might as well be dead.

My carbaholic cousin and I insisted on hitting up the bakery bright and early for some incredible croissants. It sounds like a total stereotype (because it is) but it's so worth it because those croissants were insanely delicious. Hot, flaky, layery--they practically melted in our mouths. We ate them too fast to be photographed, but here's a shot of the bakery...

Then we hopped onto the Metro (which, by the way, is the New York subway circa 1901) and headed to Concorde for, of course, those ubiquitous shots of the Eiffel Tower along the Seine...

Then we wandered along, admiring some more pretty buildings and fountains, which my very astute brother couldn't recognize or describe for us...

And then started walking down the prettiest tree-framed path towards the Arc de Triomphe, which we were all able to recognize...

Soon arrived at the Champs-Elysees (which is essentially a wider 5th Avenue), where we discovered an obscenely large Louis Vuitton store...

And an extremely fancy-looking Abercrombie and Fitch, which had the most ridiculous line just to enter! Really, Parisians? You're that excited to shop in the dark with loud music blasting in your ears and the heavy scent of slightly unpleasant men's cologne? I know the sales people are good looking, but are they that good looking...?

The line was really deep, and the sign on the gate reads Abercrombie and Fitch--I kept getting really bad pictures--sorry!

Walked back to the brother's apartment, enjoying the old-fashioned scenery along the way...

Relaxed for a few hours, and then headed out to a cafe for dinner, which included escargot! Couldn't visit Paris without eating some delicious snails, could we?

And now we're back at his place--I'm currently preparing to shower in what might be the world's tiniest bathroom. (Pictures can be available if you'd like!)

Tomorrow we're going to the Gallerie Lafayette--more shopping, perhaps for that upcoming haul post =)

And definitely a lot more eating--macaroons anyone?

Hope you're all well! Have a lovely week!

Bonne nuit!
