Day Trip to Attinghausen and Other Swiss Mini Adventures

Day 3 in Switzerland is gonna be a slow one--it's Sunday here which means everything--EVERYTHING--shuts down. So I thought it'd be a good time to update you all on the doings of these past few days!

Please excuse the crappy photos taken through the window of a speeding car and remember that I did warn you about excessive pictures of food!

We went grocery shopping at COOP--a massive Swiss supermarket chain. Might have overindulged myself a bit in the bread and pastry section!

And then a family friend came over and brought the most delicious strawberries, fresh picked from early that morning. I'm telling you guys, the divine taste of their fresh fruit is reason enough to move to Europe.

Made some spaetzle!

And the most delicious garlic bread--defrosted and toasted from COOP!

And then we all piled into the car to go after this much-talked about German chicken. Which was not, as it turns out, in Germany, but in Attinghausen, a more rural part of Switzerland in Luzern (or Lucerne). It's sort of like Swiss lake country, and the scenery was gorgeous!

The Chicken.
Or should I say, the butter with a small side of chicken. Was the deep-fried chicken drowning in a pool of butter delicious? Yes, but only for the first few bites. After that, it just felt like work.

Unbelievably beautiful mountains, even in lake country! Looking at these pictures kind of makes me want to wear my hair in milkmaid braids. Or live in a cabin in the mountains with my grandfather Alp. (High-five if you caught that reference!)

Well that's it for now!

Let me know if you guys like this type of post--minimal writing, with more pictures. I know my trip might sound pretty boring so far, but there's going to be lots of good stuff coming up soon!

And I'm sure I won't be able to put my camera down once we get to Paris!

Off to go finish the remainder of the strawberries! Ooh, with maybe some freshly whipped cream to go with them...

It's going to be a very difficult afternoon =)
