Cheapie but Goodie: St. Ives Naturally Indulgent Body Moisturizer

Saturday, April 23, 2011

In a previous post, I briefly sang my praises of the St. Ives Whipped Silk body lotion. It's cheap, accessible, comes with a lot of product, and works. What could be better?

Why, its sister lotion, the Naturally Indulgent Coconut Milk and Orchid Extract!

Let me preface this by saying that the marketing people at St. Ives are geniuses. GENIUSES. As cynical as I am towards product labels and claims, something about the description and names of St. Ives products always sucks me in.

Who wouldn't want their skin to be like whipped silk, (which, by the way, was the reason I bought that lotion in the first place) or soothed by oatmeal and shea? And just when I thought they couldn't do any better, they come out with a lotion that's "naturally indulgent"!

There's something that's just so sinful about the phrase--and the whipped silk too--that even before I heard its ingredient list included coconut milk and orchid extract, I was headed off to my nearest drugstore to pick it up.

Ever since then, I'm afraid, my once-beloved Whipped Silk has been banished to the very depths of my beautification drawer. Because you see, that product is great, whereas Naturally Indulgent is outstanding.

Both body moisturizers are plenty hydrating and creamy, but there is this unprecedented smoothness that the Naturally Indulgent has which the Whipped Silk completely lacks. My legs always felt soft after using the latter, but the newest addition to the St. Ives line makes my skin feel deliciously hydrated, and gloriously, touchably silky. I know, I know! Maybe they should have switched the names of the two lotions?

I literally can't stop touching my legs after slathering on the Naturally Indulgent. Sometimes I even wish I'd get hit by a car so some exceptionally good looking EMT or innocent bystander would have to feel them and then comment on their smoothness. (Hey, if it gets me a boyfriend...)

All joking and pathetic desperation aside, this moisturizer is amazing. Hydrated, smooth skin that smells deliciously tropical all for around $7 can't be beat.

Well.
For now.
